On a lighter note from my previous enraged entry, I saw American Wedding, which is the third film in the American Pie series... it was tasteless, perverted, and nasty. Just the way I like comedies! Much like their previous versions, actually, even more so than previous versions, it features crude comedy involving sex, the genitals, and of course (who could forget?) feces. I know some are offended by such obscene and/or violent images, like Janet Jackson's "nipple shield" (why does the press keep putting that in quotation marks...? It's a nipple shield is a nipple shield is a nipple shield!), so I won't offer gory details. But it's hilarious. I think I actually saw the un-cut, un-rated version, so it might have been less severe in theatres.

Although I haven't finished my ideal man post, I'll write briefly about my ideal movie. I generally like most films, unless, of course, they suck (I might have contracted mad-cow -- my brain is running like a 286... I mean, I can't find a decent synonym for "suck"). I love comedy, and when I say comedy, I mean hard-core comedy. None of that romantic comedy/chick flick stuff. Well, When Harry Met Sally is an exception, but only because Meg Ryan is just so appealing and viewer friendly. Dumb and Dumber was a classic. I must have seen that movie about 9 times. Jim Carey is magnificient, in a nutty way, as he was in Ace Ventura, and still hasn't lost his touch, as we have all seen in Bruce Almighty. His face is so pliable, but we'll have to talk about that another time.

Horror is definitely my favorite genre. Especially the classics, not only Hitchcock, but true classics villains, like Freddie, Mike Myers, et. al. Chuckie from Child's Play was wonderful, and several Stephen King film (Pet Cemetary, The Shining, comes to mind) are fabulous. Exorcist is probably my all time favorite, although I have a hard time deciding. I think I just like the shock-value it has to Christians. I somehow feel not too scared and a bit safe (from Satan, I mean) because I am not Christian. But Satan speaking Latin backwards... that is killer. Of course, newer films like the Scream trilogy are alright too. Eh. But their parodies, as seen in Scary Movies part 1 and 2 are hilarious. I nearly cried!

I don't like chick flicks, as previously stated. It takes a lot for a chick flick to get on my good side. Love Actually was one that actually kind of sort of got an "OK" from me. Serendipity, one of my best friend's favorites (she actually contemplated purchasing the VHS) is a classic example of why I don't like chick flicks. They give a false impression of romance, and I am not buying into that (forgive me for what I am about to say) SHIT. I mean, writing your name in a book and selling it and hoping that the man of your dreams would come across it?? I can literally sit down and watch the film and pin-point out exactly what is wrong with each line of the film. I'll slash it like Simon, from American Idols, does to the Idol-wannabes.

And of course, I still got my bone to pick with Disney. Pixar, I love, but Disney, I don't know. I loved Disney's original works, like Snow White, Cinderella, etc. but since The Little Mermaid and how it was so wronged -- I have lost faith. Beauty and the Beast was alright, well-done, even, but it started downhill. Lion King -- so-so. I know nobody hates Simba. I'd be killed just for saying that I didn't like the Lion King. But I really don't like it. Simba goes through puberty, as in his voice changes. Is there something wrong with a lion's voice changing as he ages? Eh. But more importantly, it is animated films like Brother Bear that really disappoints me. And the sales/profits echo my disappointments.

Well, I guess that sort of covers my ideal film, or at least my favorite and hated genres in film. If only discussing men would be so easy. Humph.
